As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the average price for gasoline is up from last year’s prices around the same time period.As noted by the AP, some have expressed the rise in prices has forced them to choose between making desired purchases for the holiday season and buying gas. Rene Contreras is quoted in the report as stating of the impact gas prices have had on his shopping habits, “I might give lower-income gifts because of the gas prices.”Amy Jaffe a fellow at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University, is further quoted as stating of the current costs to fill up on gas, “That’s a new pair of jeans.
