Cuba recalls victims of transatlantic slavery and trafficking

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 25 (ACN) On the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, Cuba pays tribute today to the men, women and children who suffered from this brutal system, considered one of the darkest chapters in the history of mankind.

Bruno Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, highlighted that for more than 400 years, more than 15 million people were the victims of the transatlantic slave trade.

In a message on X, the head of diplomacy of the Caribbean nation recalled those who were enslaved "due to colonialist greed".

According to the Cuban diplomat, the former metropolises must address the just demands of the Caribbean countries for those crimes against humanity.

Cuba has stressed that the great beneficiaries of conquest, colonization, slavery, the transatlantic slave trade and ruthless exploitation have been the developed countries and their consumer societies, at the expense of the extermination of millions of children of the people of the South.
It maintains that reparation and full compensation to the peoples and groups affected by such a horrendous crime is an inescapable moral duty.

Each year, on March 25, the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade provides an opportunity to honor and remember those who suffered and died as a result of these scourges.
