2 Texans killed in New Mexico crash

NEW MEXICO (KCBD) - On July 16, 2018 around 6 p.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on State Road 128 around mile post 20 between Loving and Jal.

The initial investigation indicated a 2008 Dodge truck was traveling west on State Road 128.

For unknown reasons the 2008 Dodge crossed the center line into the opposing east bound traffic of State Road 128.

The Dodge crashed into a 2010 Ford F-250 that was traveling east on State Road 128.

The driver of the Dodge, Patricio Montano Ponce, 33, of Buffalo, TX died on the scene. The passenger of the Dodge, Rafael Arturo Licon ,41, of Fort Worth, TX also died on the scene.  The driver of Ford F-250, a 27-year-old Carlsbad man was airlifted from the scene with unknown injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.  The driver of the Ford F-250 will not be identified.  No additional information is available at this time.
