The Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble will perform at the City Park Bandshell in Valley City on Wednesday, July 25.  The local Color Guard will present the colors starting at 7:15 p.m. Free popcorn will be provided by First Community Credit Union. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be relocated to Vangstad Auditorium located on the Valley City State University campus.

The band first formed in 1911. Comprised of 45 professional musicians, Navy Band Great Lakes provides musical support for military and public engagements throughout a nine-state area including all or parts of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. These musicians perform more than 550 missions per year through support for military ceremonies, student education, public performances and recruiting engagements for the U.S. Navy.

The wind ensemble's repertoire consists of serious band works, patriotic music, Americana and featured solo vocal and instrumental selections.

"Pride in Service" has been the theme for Navy Band Great Lakes for more than a century.
Music at the City Park Bandshell is sponsored by the Valley City Parks & Recreation District, Bridges Arts Council, KOVC, Myron Sommerfeld, Pizza Corner, VC CVB & BEK.  A freewill offering is taken to support the continued work on the bandshell. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. For questions, call Diane at 701-845-3294.
