Report:The STD that Causes the Most Anxiety is Genital Herpes; CBCD Comments on the Study

Genital herpes and its associated stigma is perhaps the most emotionally hurtful of the sexually transmitted diseases. (1)

HSV’s incurable prognosis ... can make living with the virus extremely stressful.
— Greg Bennett, CBCD
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, January 25, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ --

“Infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1, or HSV-2)? The CBCD recommends taking Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD

When a person discovers that he or she is infected with the genital herpes virus, that person can experience “a variance of emotions, ranging from disbelief to anger. This may be especially true for those diagnosed with genital herpes. Feelings of disbelief may morph into feelings of anger or resentment aimed toward the person that may have infected them. The carrier may then experience sadness and confusion, as well as shame and embarrassment, as the notion of being infected is finally accepted. Psychological issues related to a herpes diagnosis are felt almost universally amongst people of all ages. Studies have shown that being diagnosed with HSV carries the most psychological impact on a person (as opposed to being diagnosed with other STIs, not including HIV). (1) According to the University of California at Santa Barbara, “HSV’s incurable prognosis as well its cyclic and often painful outbreaks, can make living with the virus extremely stressful.” (1) Moreover, for some, the physical symptoms of genital herpes lead to extreme mental anguish and anxiety. “Insecurity, discouragement, rejection, tears, anger, counseling, suicidal tendencies, humiliation, shame, and isolation is caused by the stigma of a skin condition (genital herpes) that usually doesn’t show up most or even all of the year and can be contracted after having protected sex one time.” (See the Atlantic.com, from July 28, 2014) (2)

The CBCD therefore recommends that infected individuals take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR, two natural antivirals that were shown to reduce herpes symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies.

The formula of Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against the family of herpes viruses, including HSV-1 and HSV-2. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with (HSV-1 or HSV-2)…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (3) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (3)

Both products can be ordered online on the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR websites.

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinensis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.

“The detrimental effects of stress and social/self-stigmatization are many, but one of particular importance is stress’s direct effect on HSV outbreaks. Many studies report a positive correlation between increased stress levels (caused by stigmatization or physiological factors concerning the virus, e.g., pain) and the number and magnitude of HSV outbreaks experienced. The more stress a person experiences, particularly if one has poor stress coping skills, the more outbreaks the person has. These recurrent outbreaks can then cause a person to experience more stress. Thus, people living with Herpes may easily fall into a vicious and self-perpetuating cycle of outbreaks that may be difficult to stop.” (1)

Dr. Anna Wald said that “Herpes has a stigma attached to it that even HIV doesn’t have anymore. It’s very rare to get people to talk about it as openly.”(See the New York Times, from May 26, 2010) (4) Dr. Wald is a virologist at the University of Washington.

A study by Dr. Wald found that being open about a genital herpes diagnosis helps remove some mental fears, at least for a time. “Out of 200 people with herpes, those who revealed their diagnosis were able to keep partners free of the disease for about nine months on average, compared to the two months it took when left secret. Couples who share this information often agree to use condoms, hold off on sex during flare-ups, and avoid skin-to-skin contact around the genital region, which all reduce the risk of transmitting herpes. Some may take prescription drugs that, in addition to relieving symptoms, block some of the viral shedding that causes infections.” (4)

What treatments are available for herpes infections?

“Two types of antiviral treatments against HSV are available: topical and oral. The treatments include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day.” (3). There are also the natural supplements Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR, which have a formula that was designed to help the immune system target the herpes virus when it is in a latent form.

“We recommend that individuals concerned about genital herpes, and the stigma associated with this viral disease, take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD
