• Consumers should know how the law protects them before accepting or refusing a credit note.

• When the wrong product is purchased, sellers have no legal obligation to provide any form of remedy.

• Most sellers are willing to take back unwanted goods and issue a credit note even though they are not legally obliged to.

• Consumers should carefully read the credit note’s terms and conditions and check what restrictions apply.

• Money refund may be claimed when defective or non-conforming goods can neither be repaired nor replaced.

• Once a credit note is accepted then it may not be possible for consumers to return it in exchange for a cash refund.
