(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Aug. 31 Uganda’s statistics agency reported that the country’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), a key measure for inflation, fell to 1.9 percent in the year concluding August 2021, a decrease from 2.1 percent in July 2021.
Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) ascribed the decline to the decrease in transportation prices and low activities in leisure, sports and culture.
Yearly transportation inflation dropped to 7.3 percent for the period under evaluation, a decrease from 10.7 percent in July this year, Kaudha Lubega, head of macroeconomic statistics at the UBOS said to reporters.
The yearlu inflation for Recreation, Sport and Culture declined to minus 0.3 percent during Auguat of the present year, a fall from 0.7 percent and Personal Care, Social Protection and Miscellaneous Goods declined to 1.8 percent in August 2021, a decrease from 2.2 percent in July of this year.
