Look inside former gas works site in Reading set to be auctioned off - with plans for 20 new flats

A former gas works building in Reading is being auctioned off. The derelict building sits on the banks of the River Kennett on Gas Works Road.

The site has laid empty for around 20 years. All of the buildings that once formed the gas works site in Reading were constructed between 1840 and 1913.

Comprising of two red brick Victorian-style buildings, the site is a reminder of Reading's industrial past. Demolition has already begun on the site to bring Reading a new and modern building.

The property is offered to potential buyers alongside planning consent for the conversion and extension of the existing buildings. These proposals include plans to create 20 flats comprising of ten one-bedroom flats, nine two-bedroom flats, and one three-bedroom flats.

With a guide price of £1 million, the lot will go to auction on December 15, 2022. The plot being sold is 0.16 acres in size.
