PLAINFIELD — A police officer from Hendricks County, located immediately west of Indianapolis, died Monday night after coming into contact with power lines downed as a result of a vehicle crash, the department reported.
The officer was identified as Deputy Fred Fislar.

Fislar had reportedly responded to the crash near Plainfield.
"Deputy Fislar was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries," the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department said.
"We are working on gathering resources to support our employees as we grieve and work our way through this tragic loss," police said. "Please keep our brother, Deputy Fred Fislar, his family and our law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers."
