I have something to admit. I yearn for the end of the year when everyone is moving out and getting rid of the things they don’t want anymore.

Why? Because then I get to shop in our campus and community dumpsters. The best part — it’s all free. I have furnished nearly half of my apartment with the random things people have thrown away.

There are tables, dressers, appliances and basically anything you can think of a college student might have or want. I found my microwave on the side of the road. The dumpster gifted me a wicker basket I hold my blankets in.

Why should the squirrels be the only ones allowed to get in the dumpsters? This is how I got my air fryer. It was still in the box, don’t worry and it works perfectly fine.

I also have started just driving around town keeping an eye out for corners that have random piles of stuff people didn’t want. A cube organizer? Yes ma’am. A random chair? It’s going in my living room. A cat tower? I sure did think about it.

This time of year is the end of a chapter for most people, but it’s my time to shine. If you are looking for me during the remainder of this month, you can find me at any of our local dumpsters If anything holds true, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
