E-pass does not get any benefit: Try it - KC Palaniswami's idea!

Former MP, KC Palaniswami has said that there will be no benefit from the e-pass procedure for ooty and Kodaikanal. The madras high court, hearing cases related to environmental protection, has ordered the Nilgiris and Dindigul district Collectors to implement the e-pass procedure followed during the Corona period in Uthai and kodaikanal from May 7 to june 30. Only vehicles with e-pass should be allowed. local people should be exempted. A comprehensive advertisement should be given at the indian level regarding the e-pass procedure. The madras high court has also directed the tamil Nadu government to provide necessary information technology assistance for issuing e-Pass. Many people are protesting this order of the madras High Court. It is also being urged that the court should reconsider the order. In this situation, ooty and kodaikanal will not get any benefit from the e-pass procedure, KC Palaniswami, who was expelled from the AIADMK, said. He has also listed the pros and cons of the IBAS procedure and suggested an alternative. In this regard, KC Palaniswami said on his page, “What are the benefits of this E Pass procedure for ooty and kodaikanal commuters?

* The statistics of who is coming and how many people are coming will be available to the government. Overcrowding and traffic can be regulated based on that data.

* Those who come in separate vehicles in the same family will come in the same vehicle thereby reducing the number of vehicles. Crowds will increase in government buses and trains.

* Those who have the means will buy at least a small place there to avoid these difficulties. This will increase the value of land in ooty and Kodaikanal.

What are the difficulties faced by ooty and kodaikanal commuters through this E-Pass procedure?

* Abuse of power such as bribery and corruption will take place more through this E-Pass procedure.

* At the entrance gate of Mettupalayam-Ooty road, some anti-social elements collect Green Tax from all vehicles with the help of the police department. But there does not seem to be any such government order. That money does not go to the government either. For the past three years, no government official has come forward to stop this robbery, which is known to everyone. The government should prevent this first. More such abuses are likely to increase with the implementation of E Pass.

* This E-Pass procedure seems to affect the individual rights that anyone can travel anywhere within india without hindrance. Tomorrow, taking this as an example, there will be a demand for such an order to control crowding in cities like Chennai.

* Instead of 1.) Karamadai - Kallaru - Mettupalayam By Pass project which has not been implemented for many years, 2.) Lovedale - HPF a bypass can be constructed in this area without going into ooty city. 3.) Masinagudi – Kothagiri road may be arranged as an alternate route without going into ooty town.

* Illegal constructions and road encroachments may be removed, and strict action may also be taken in pending cases like illegal felling of trees and harassment of wildlife.

* It is not practical to buy a pass and leave like you have to buy a passport and leave within your own country. The intention of the court may be right but it is unlikely to do much good.

* This will cause difficulties for lay people who do not have financial strength. The tamil Nadu government should review the order in court or file an appeal.

* Similarly in kodaikanal also basic facilities and alternative routes can be created to control the crowding. Proper planning by the police and the revenue department to regulate this would be the right solution and giving E Pass will not get any benefit.” Posted as
