Police foiled the Naxals’ plot of an ambush in Gadchiroli

Nagpur, Maharashtra – Gadchiroli Police foiled the conspiracy of Naxals to cause a major disaster in the Lok Sabha elections. The Police destroyed explosives and ‘claymore mines’ (a type of explosives used to attack ground forces or vehicles) planted by the Naxals on a hill in the Tipagad area. This has averted a great danger.

The Police had received confidential information that the Naxals had buried explosives and claymore mines in the ground. The police conducted a search operation in the area to avoid any possible accidents. Security forces were deployed there. So the Naxals couldn’t use these claymores or explosives at that time. When the teams reached the spot on the morning of 6th May, they found 6 pressure cookers filled with explosives and detonators, 3 ‘claymore pipes’ filled with explosives and rusty iron pieces.

The teams found gunpowder, medicines and blankets in a plastic bag at the same place. Explosives were destroyed at the spot with the help of bomb detectors and disposal teams. The rest of the material was burnt on the spot. A case will be registered in this case.
