PARIS (WKRC) - An airplane turned around in the middle of an international flight after a passenger lost their cell phone, with the airline citing safety concerns.
According to The London Standard, the incident involved Air France flight AF750 as it left Paris for Pointe-a-Pitre in Guadeloupe on March 21. The plane reportedly spent less than an hour in the air before turning around and landing back in the Orly Airport in Paris.
Per the outlet, the flight was turned around because a customer lost their phone and was not able to relocate it. The flight departed at around noon, and touched down back at Orly at around 2:37 p.m., then departed back to Pointe-a-Pitre at 4:13 p.m.
Air France reportedly did not give a specific reason why the plane needed to turn around to find the phone, but cited safety concerns. Multiple news outlets, including the Independent, speculated that the concerns in question were related to lithium-ion batteries.
The outlet also reported that upon landing at Orly, maintenance crews searched the premises for the phone before the flight took off again.
Air France did not disclose any more information related to the incident.
