Former RTÉ 2fm presenter Eoghan McDermott has welcomed a baby boy with his partner Alessandra Heredia.

Eoghan shared the happy news via an sweet Instagram post, while also revealing his son's name: Kevin Mateo McDermott.

"Welcome to the world, precious boy. You are so very loved. Named after my Papa (and his new Grandpa) - the wisest, kindest man of all. Mam said the other day "oh it's Kev and Kev Óg"... so perhaps 'Kev Óg' will stick," he revealed.

He also praised the medical staff in Holles St Hospital, calling them "earth angels". "You are ferocious and wonderful people."
