The Center for Children and Families wins Nonprofit of the Year Award
A look at their services that impact the community
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Center for Children and Families received the Nonprofit of the Year Award at the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards Luncheon on March 20.
“I think we’re just incredibly grateful to have this organization in our area and the services that they provide,” Coordinator and Case Manager for Juvenile Drug Court in Ouachita Parish Kathryn Neathery said.
Juvenile Drug Court is one of the many services the Center for Children and Families provides that impacts youth.
Neathery said addiction is a problem that many youth struggle with: “Helping these kids develop skills that are going to be with them throughout the duration of their life and wanting them to succeed and be productive members of our society I think is very important.”
Chief Operating Officer for the Center for Children and Families Chris Ramsey said, they partner with many organizations that provide advocacy and counseling resources for families, as well as education and prevention for topics such as abuse, trauma and human trafficking.
“These are some of the darkest things that happen in our community unfortunately, and our primary job and mission is to show up and help those families find a way out of that darkness, heal and then move on to live thriving lives,” said Ramsey.
Ramsey said the work this organization does to impact the community would not be possible without the dedication of their partners including state departments and school systems.
“It really does take all of us working together in our specialties to meet the needs of the families that we’re working with,” said Ramsey.
Ramsey explained winning this award is a testament to the work done throughout the year to make a difference.
Ramsey said, “We are so grateful to win the Nonprofit of the Year from the West Ouachita-West Monroe Chamber of Commerce. We could not do this work without our community partners.”
