Middlesboro becomes home to the 52nd Baby Box in Kentucky

MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WBKO) - Kentucky is getting another Baby Box!
The box, located in Middlesboro, will be blessed on April 4. According to the release, the newest addition represents a significant step forward in the mission to provide a safe and anonymous alternative to surrendering an infant.
According to the release, the new location will offer a secure and compassionate option for parents in crisis and help ensure every infant has a chance for a future.
Surrendered infants are adopted by families who have registered as foster to adopt. The local Department of Family Services coordinates the adoption process, per the release.
The Safe Haven Baby Box in Middlesboro would not have been possible without the local advocates who worked tirelessly to bring this resource to their community.
The box will be located at 3600 West Cumberland Avenue in Middlesboro. The public is encouraged to come out and help bless the baby box in April.
Across the country, there are 332 Safe Haven Baby Box locations with 52 in Kentucky.
