Cleveland man, woman in stolen Mercedes lead police on chase in Brook Park

BROOK PARK, Ohio – A Cleveland man, 60, and a Cleveland woman, 37, were arrested at about 11 p.m. March 19 after they led police on a chase in a stolen Mercedes-Benz sedan.

Police saw the Mercedes traveling about 60 mph on southbound Smith Road near Hummel Road, a 35-mph zone. The car made a sudden lane change without signaling.

Police activated their overhead lights and tried to stop the Mercedes. The car accelerated and turned sharply onto Remora Boulevard. The passenger-side door of the Mercedes repeatedly opened and closed again.

The Mercedes abruptly stopped on Remora at Delores Boulevard. The Cleveland man, who was in the car’s passenger seat, stepped out of the car and began walking away.

Police ordered the man to stop but he continued walking. Then he jogged north on Delores. Eventually police found the man on Pike Boulevard.

The Cleveland woman, who was driving the Mercedes, told police that the man had instructed her not to stop for them. Police then learned that the Mercedes had been stolen in Seven Hills.
