Gabby Logan has revealed that a strict Pilates regime is what keeps her feeling fit, claiming it is "vital" to her health as she gets older.

The sports presenter has been a mainstay in television and radio since the late 1990s, hosting programmes such as Final Score, Sports Personality of the Year and many major live sporting events. Most recently, the veteran TV star has been announced as one of the three presenters to host Match of the Day following Gary Lineker's resignation, alongside Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman.

Logan has always taken a great interest in sport, and was formerly a rhythmic gymnast who represented Wales and Great Britain at an international level in her youth. So, it comes as no surprise that she is particularly active when it comes to health and fitness - and she has one particular workout that she swears by in her older age.

The 51-year-old previously told Top Sante magazine that Pilates has been a "game-changer" in her life, and it has made her health better than it has ever been before.

Logan said: "I am a huge fan of Pilates, which has been a game changer for me. The change it brings to my body is unreal as you have to rely on your own strength and the visual impact of it makes me feel so strong.

"It is so good for your core to do Pilates as the trunk of your body is vital to care for as you get older. It sounds a bit naff to say, but Pilates really does connect my mind and body together. I also love to go for a run three times a week and do HIIT to build up a sweat.

"I feel much better now than I did in my twenties. I’m more confident and able to push myself mentally. Having kids changes your body shape, but I have learned to embrace what I have, rather than dwell on it."

The sports presenter also emphasised the importance of feeling good inside before fixating on the outward appearance, as she often fends off questions about her look on TV. Logan added: "Many people ask me if I feel under pressure to look good because I am on TV.

"But I love to look after myself. I would take the same care whether I was on camera or not. My mother is in her seventies and still works and she is very glamorous.

"It’s all about looking after yourself, which makes you feel better inside and out. I like to always have a positive outlook on life and always used to worry about being a drain on people. Now I don’t fret about things like that."

The veteran host also discussed her duo work-out routine with husband and former Scotland rugby star Kenny Logan, who she has noted as a big inspiration for getting back into fitness, as per the Entertainment Daily.

Together they share daughter Lois and son Reuben, who's followed in his father's footsteps. He's a professional rugby union player for the Northampton Saints and has started representing Scotland at youth level, after initially playing for England.

He and his twin sister were part of the reason Gabby previously turned down the opportunity to present Match of the Day 2 instead of Chapman. But now the twins are 19, she's committed to the show alongside him and Cates.
