Six months ago I bought a treadmill from Amazon after noticing it had a generous £100 discount. Despite never owning a piece of exercise equipment before, it quickly became one of my favourite purchases of the year and has transformed my work-from-home routine.
Now, shoppers can add the Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill to their home for even less thanks to Amazon's Spring Sale which launched earlier this week. The machine currently has a huge £120 discount, bringing the price down from £299.99 to £179.99.
I'm a gym member and I attend classes several times a week, plus I enjoy outdoor walks, however there are times when I'm too tired to motivate myself to leave the house. As a fully remote worker, the only time I leave my desk is for a quick bathroom break or to grab lunch, which only involves walking downstairs.

When I was office-based, I would often walk over to colleagues for a chat, head to the kitchen to make a cup of tea, and almost always go for a walk around the block during lunch breaks. The Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill ensures I get up and move, even if it's just for a quick walk.
The treadmill offers a range of speed settings, allowing for anything from a gentle stroll to a full-on run. It features an LED display that accurately monitors your workout, including time, speed, distance, and calories burned.

For added safety, it includes a removable handlebar and comes with a remote control and a holder for your phone or tablet, enabling you to enjoy your favourite shows or videos while exercising. I must confess, my primary reason for purchasing the treadmill was to shed some weight by ensuring I take a brisk walk daily and clock in those crucial steps - especially since the walking pad is conveniently located next to my desk.
However, it has provided me with much more than anticipated. It allows me to take a much-needed break from my screen during lunch, and I've noticed a reduction in back, neck, and shoulder pain caused by sitting hunched over my desk all day.
During colder weather, using the walking pad is an excellent way to warm up, saving me from having to turn on the heating. Besides its weekday use, the treadmill proves incredibly useful for weekend workouts as well.
If I have plans, I might not have time to visit the gym, but now I can use the walking pad in the morning before getting ready and heading out. The treadmill is also surprisingly quiet, ensuring it doesn't disrupt the rest of my household.
Before purchasing Amazon's Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill, I looked around at a few different options. Argos has a Dynamax RunningPad Folding Treadmill priced at £550 that claims to be 'the world's most compact treadmill', as it can neatly fold away.
Debenhams is currently offering a 2 in 1 Folding Treadmill at a reduced price of £239.95 that offers an 'ultra-quiet motor'. I decided to opt for the Sperax treadmill as it had everything I was looking for and was the cheapest.

Typically, I engage in a brisk 20-minute walk every weekday during my lunch break, and often add an extra 20 minutes before or after work. A 20-minute fast walk allows me to burn approximately 85 calories and take 2,100 steps.
I'm absolutely delighted with the treadmill as it has significantly improved both my physical and mental health. It appears I'm not alone in this sentiment, as it has received hundreds of five-star ratings, with an overall score of 4.3.
Unfortunately the treadmill isn't perfect, as I found a couple of issues. The first is that it arrived with a crease on the treadmill belt, likely caused during transit, which hasn't straightened out even after months of use. Thankfully this hasn't impacted the walking pad in any way and isn't a safety concern, but rather an aesthetic issue.
The other problem I had is that, despite the treadmill having handy wheels for easy movement, it is very heavy. If you need to transport it between rooms or up flights of stairs, you'll definitely require at least two people to carry it.
Six months on and I'm still delighted that I purchased the machine. I thoroughly enjoy being able to listen to some music and go for a walk or jog without anyone watching me, all within the comfort of my own home.
The Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill can be purchased here for £179.99 while the Amazon Spring Sale is live.
