A cleaning expert has revealed a brilliantly straightforward method for banishing persistent grime and water stains from your bathroom. Chantel Mila, known as Mama Mila on TikTok, has extolled the virtues of lemons as a natural and potent cleaning agent in homemade solutions.

In a TikTok clip posted in February, Chantel showcased five clever uses for lemons around the house. She highlighted their effectiveness in tackling soap scum and hard water marks, particularly on showerheads.

Her tip involves cutting a lemon in half and rubbing it directly onto the problem areas, utilising the fruit's citric acid to dissolve mineral build-ups like calcium carbonate and other grime. The citric acid present in lemons is excellent for breaking down these deposits, simplifying the cleaning process.

Applying lemon or its juice to soap scum allows the acid to attack the dirt and bacteria within, making it easier to scrub away after letting it sit for some time. It's important to rinse the area with water following the treatment, reports the Express.

Lemons are equally effective against hard water stains. Additionally, Chantel employs a combination of lemons and toothpaste to cleanse and freshen the inside of washing machine drums.

Lemons can also serve as a "natural rinse aid" in dishwashers. For those battling rust on stainless steel, a mixture of lemon and baking soda comes highly recommended by Chantel as her top lemon-based cleaning hack.

To tackle rust on stainless steel, generously sprinkle baking soda over the surface and then squeeze lemon juice over it. Let the natural combination of baking soda and lemon juice sit and work its magic on the rust for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Afterwards, take a halved lemon and use it to scrub off any lingering rust spots. The cleaning tip, shared by Chantel in her video, has garnered significant attention online, racking up 42,600 views, 1,642 likes, and nine comments.
