Watford has links to of many of Britain's most famous faces, from heavyweight boxing champions to one of the greatest singers of his generation.

Here are five famous faces from our patch and what they are up to these days.

Sir Elton John

Sir Elton JohnSir Elton John (Image: Yui Mok/PA) While he may grown up five miles away in Pinner, Sir Elton will always be inextricably linked to the town for his time as owner of Watford FC.

Growing up as a Hornets fan, the now 78-year-old became chairman of his boyhood club in 1976, providing financial backing the glory years under Graham Taylor that included a run to the 1984 FA Cup Final.

Despite having officially retired from touring, Sir Elton continues to make new music, with his new album 'Who Believes in Angels' set to be released later this week.

Anthony Joshua

AJ on a recent visit to Watford GeneralAJ on a recent visit to Watford General (Image: Clean Herts Community) Born at Watford General Hospital, the man fans affectionately refer to as AJ is at a bit of a career crossroads after losing his International Boxing Federation (IBF) Heavyweight Championship to Daniel Dubois last year.

Joshua has twice been a heavyweight champion but his Wembley loss scuppered dreams of fighting for the undisputed title.

The future could hold a rematch with Dubois, while a long-rumoured bout with Tyson Fury appears to be off the cards after the 'Gypsy King' announced his retirement from the sport.

American fighter Deontay Wilder has recently claimed he is "close" to agreeing a fight with Joshua as both men look to bounce back from recent losses.

Joshua regularly returns to his hometown, most recently handing out Christmas presents at Watford General last year.

Geri Halliwell

Geri HalliwellGeri Halliwell (Image: PA) Also born at Watford General, Halliwell was educated at Watford Grammar School for Girls before becoming part of the Spice Girls.

Known by many as 'Ginger Spice', Halliwell recently has branched out into acting with a role in 2023 film 'Gran Turismo'.

The second book in her Rosie Frost novel series is due to be released later this month.

Olajide Olatunji was raised in Watford where he initially gained fame for his YouTube channel which centred around the FIFA video game series.

A reasonably successful rap career followed before he became a pioneer of what is now known as the 'influencer boxing' scene, competing in and promoting several bouts involving social media content creator.

In recent years, he has been known for the Prime energy drink brand created alongside fellow internet personality Logan Paul, even appearing alongside Paul at 2023's WWE WrestleMania event - wearing a Prime bottle costume.

In 2025, he has appeared as a guest judge on the current series of ITV'S Britain's Got Talent, which has seen Watford charity Electric Umbrella secure Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer.

Bradley Walsh

Bradley WalshBradley Walsh (Image: ITV) Growing up in Leavesden, Walsh has become a staple of late afternoon television as the host of hit ITV quiz show The Chase.

He has also taken part in several travel shows alongside son Barney and hosted the rebooted BBC show Gladiators.

Walsh will be back on the BBC later this month as he fronts a new series of Blankety Blank.
