LLAY UNITED were spot on in the shoot-out as they grabbed a place in the North East Wales U16s Shield semi-finals.

Llay won 4-3 on penalties after their tie at Borras Park Albion Yellows ended 2-2. Jack Cushley and Finley Smith scored for Albion with Morgan Jones and Harri Thomas netting for the winners.

Joshua Hollinshead’s hat-trick helped Mold Alex to a 7-2 success at Borras Park Albion Blues for whom Jack Edwards bagged both. Lewis Fleming (2), Harri Griffith and Thomas Antrobus were also on target for Mold.

Liam Hartley, Eddie Somerville-Cox and Joshua Rimmer were Coedpoeth United’s marksmen in a 3-1 win over Broughton United whose scorer was Isaac Azimi-Sayers.

Chirk are also through after Ashton Shanley (2), Ben Brown, Connor Bright, Will Tudor-Jones and Armani Barri netted in a 7-1 victory over FC Queen’s Park for whom Nathaniel Slowinski replied.

Chirk lost out in their U17s League Cup semi-final as Georgi Georgiev and Daniel Davies netted in Lex XI’s 2-0 win.

Through to the U19s League Cup final are Rhos Aelwyd and Coedpoeth United.

Xavi Morgan (2) and Adam Thomas scored in Coedpoeth’s success at club-mates FC Coedpoeth while Rhos were 5-4 shoot-out winners against Hawarden after their tie finished 2-2 after extra time.

Morgan Jones and Tiago Celta were Aelwyd’s marksmen with Djimitri Carter and George Savage hitting back for Hawarden.
