LANCASTER, S.C. (WBTV) - A teenager wanted in connection with a shooting at a Walmart store in Lancaster, South Carolina turned themself in, officials reported Friday.

Antonio Hayden, 18, reportedly turned himself in for several charges in connection with a Walmart shootout that happened on Tuesday, April 1. Lancaster police say Hayden was wanted for charges including accessory after the fact of a Class A felony, and misprision of a felony (neglect to report crime).

Hayden is one of four teenagers arrested in the wake of the shootout, which left two people injured. Lancaster police said on Thursday that the violence was likely gang-related.

“This was a brazen act of violence in a public space,” Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile said. “These individuals had no regard for human life. They put innocent people in danger, and that’s something we’re not going to tolerate here in Lancaster.”

Police said the shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. on April 1 near the automotive section of the Walmart off Highway 9. The store was shut down as officers responded to reports of gunfire inside.

According to Lancaster police Chief Don Roper, the violence stemmed from an altercation between two groups believed to be gang-affiliated.

“It’s still a developing case,” Chief Roper said. “But we do have information that indicates there is a gang element involved in this interaction.”

The following individuals have been arrested:

  • Lareakus Cunningham, 18, charged with attempted murder, breach of peace, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
  • Na’Rickio Mickle, 19, also charged with attempted murder, breach of peace, and weapon possession.
  • Zydarius Stover, 19, charged with failure to report a crime.

A fourth person allegedly involved -- 19-year-old Jayvion Wells -- was shot during the altercation and was hospitalized, as of Thursday afternoon. He was expected to face charges upon his release.

Police said they were also looking for another minor who they believe was involved. Authorities were urging the public to come forward with any information that could help them find the unidentified minor.

“An investigation is like a puzzle,” Chief Roper said. “Any small piece can lead us to the next. We’re asking our community partners to help us out.”

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Lancaster Police Department.
