Retired Philadelphia Eagles star Brandon Graham will be the keynote speaker at the Olivet Boys & Girls Club’s Leaders & Legends Dinner on Wednesday, April 30 at 6 p.m. in the DoubleTree by Hilton, Reading.

The dinner is a celebration of Olivet’s youth and the community that supports them. Activities include a raffle, performances by club kids and recognition of Olivet’s Youth of the Year nominees. Angel Helm will receive the Champion of Youth Award, and Ethosource will receive the Partners for a Great Future Award.

Antique clocks

“The Lure on Antique Clocks” will be presented Wednesday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m., at the West Lawn-Wyomissing Hills Library, 101 Woodside Ave., West Lawn. History open house

The Berks History Center, 940 Centre Ave., Reading, is holding an Easter open house on Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event is intended for all ages. The event celebrates the cultural heritage of Berks County. There will be an authentic Pennsylvania German egg tree adorned with vintage handmade Easter eggs from the center’s collection.

There will be egg decorating stations, where materials and guidance are available for crafting unique designs to take home. Guests can embark on a scavenger hunt throughout the museum, uncovering hidden treasures while learning more about the history of Easter traditions. There will be a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Wyomissing egg hunt

Wyomissing is holding its egg hunt on Saturday, April 12, at Wyomissing Hills Memorial Park, 53 Valley Road. The festivities kick off at 11 a.m. Children ages 1-12 are invited to grab their baskets and join the hunt. The event features staggered start times by age group. Food trucks will be selling refreshments.

In the event of inclement weather, the Egg Hunt will be rescheduled for April 13 at 1 p.m.

Easter on the Farm

Easter on the Farm will be presented Saturday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University, 22 Luckenbill Road. The free event features folklife demonstrations, music, folk artists, kids activities and animals.

Historical and cultural experiences include traditional hearth cooking and Pennsylvania German baked goods in the woodstove along with traditional blacksmithing on a coal forge. Artisans from the The Reading-Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen will display traditional crafts.

Children’s activities include a craft tent, hands-on experiences with the region’s holiday traditions, Easter egg hunts at 12:30 and 2 p.m. and a chance to meet potbellied pigs.

Traditional music will be provided by Mike and Linda Hertzog at noon, the Shooflies at 1:30 p.m. and Dave Kline at 3.

Physics lecture

The 12th annual Penn State Berks Losoncy Lecture in Physics and Astronomy will be presented by Martha Constantinou, vice chair of physics at Temple University. Constantinou will present “Unlocking the Secrets of the Proton’s Spin: Insights from Simulations of the Core of Visible Matter” on Wednesday, April 9.

A reception will begin at 4 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. The lecture begins at 4:45 in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, email LPG10@psu.edu.

Pride Prom

Meadow Moonlit Ball: Pride Prom, will be held Sunday, April 13, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in the Penn State Berks Janssen Building, Spring Township. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission for people 17 and older only. Entry is free for students with any school ID. The event, hosted by the Penn State Berks Rainbow Alliance LGBTQ+ group, includes food, drinks and games. To learn more, email klc6240@psu.edu.

Basket making

The Daniel Boone Homestead is hosting a basket-making workshop on April 13 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Wayside Lodge at the Exeter Township historic site.

The event is presented by Daniel Boone Homestead Associates and led by Vicky Heffner. The featured project is a French loaf basket.

Participants are asked to bring the following items if readily available (extra items will be on hand if needed): Bucket, towel, 10 spring clothespins, ruler or tape measure, old pair of scissors and a flathead screwdriver.

Registration is required, and a form can be obtained by emailing thedanielboonehomestead@gmail.com. Cost is $50 for Homestead Associates members and $60 for nonmembers. Checks can be made out to the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates and mailed to: Daniel Boone Homestead Associates, 400 Daniel Boone Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508. Space is limited to 15 participants. Barto sale

A 50 Cent Sale and Indoor/Outdoor Flea Market is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Barto.

Consignment sale

Free, gently used children’s clothing, shoes and undergarments are available at West Lawn United Methodist Church’s monthly Faithful Friends Consignment Sale. There are items for infants, children and teenagers.

The sale takes place on the third Wednesday of each month from 4 to 7 p.m. starting April 16, inside West Lawn’s corner house at Woodside Avenue and Noble Street. An entire second-floor room is dedicated to this cause. All those experiencing need are welcome; no reservations or eligibility proof required.

Muhlenberg library

The following events are coming up at the Muhlenberg Community Library, 3612 Kutztown Road, Laureldale:

On Tuesday, April 15, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., the Mobile Tech Van will visit, offering free help with apps, the internet, library account or new device assistance.

The library “Egg-stravaganza” is scheduled for Friday, April 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be a story time, crafts, a snack, the Easter Bunny and eggs. Admission is free, and no registration is necessary. All ages welcome.

Berks History Day

The Berks Heritage Council is presenting its second annual Berks History Day on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The council and about 20 of its member museums and historical sites will present a day of interactive learning and fun for all ages.

The event will take place at the Daniel Boone Homestead in Exeter Township and will include displays of historic artifacts, hands-on activities appropriate for all ages, local food vendors and more.

The event is free of charge and will be held rain or shine.
