Marine City Festival Inc. will host a Maritime Days Easter Eggstravaganza with Easter Bingo following on April 19.

“Our festival board is committed to offering family events for our community, creating memories for families,” Maritime Days President Tammi Graber said. “When the new board was formed three years ago, this was something we noted as important for our success. We held our first trunk or treat in October and now we are bringing forth our Easter Eggstravaganza event.”

Graber said the board rented the new Guy Community Center at 545 Ward St. and will use the yard for fun games and activities from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Our local businesses have volunteered to run the activities,” she said. “We will have face painting by Ruby Tattoo, hop sack races by Hungry Howie’s, tattoos by Ennis Center for Children, bubble fun with Little Bubble Man and Amiels Enterprises, bean bag toss by Quarters MC Arcade, a craft by Painted Toad, spoon egg races by St. Clair County Community Mental Health, guessing the number of jellybeans with U.S. Fire Safety, ‘Where will the bunny travel?’ by Mickey and Me Travel, balloon animals by Humble Creations, music and dancing with Ed from Woodside Bible Church and Marine City Area Fire Authority is even bringing a fire truck.”

She said the Guy Center’s hall will be used for serving a free lunch, an Easter Bunny photo opportunity by Eastern Michigan Bank, a coloring contest by the city of Marine City and decorating a bag Easter basket by Goosehead Insurance.

“With our business community stepping up, we’re adding new activities all the time,” she said. “The egg hunt will begin at 1 p.m. with candy and chances to win big prizes. Our goal is to have 300-plus kids with parents and grandparents in tow for the egg hunt event.”

After the egg hunt, the hall will be set up for the Easter Bingo fundraiser. The doors will open at 3 p.m. and bingo will begin at 4 p.m.

“We will be calling 10 games of bingo — 10 games for $10,” Graber said. “There will be cash prizes for the winners and even second-chance gifts. Our Bingo Chair Evie Toles held a very successful bingo at our festival. This prompted us to put it on our list for fun fundraisers during the year. We have room for 100 bingo players in the hall. It would be so inspiring to sell out.”

When asked what she is most looking forward to about the event, Graber said, “It’s always the kids — seeing their faces light up as they’re experiencing all the fun.”

She also said when asked if the board plans to make this an annual event that it would be “wonderful” to continue to give back to the community after the support received at the Maritime Days festival.

“Marine City Festival Inc. has a wonderful group of volunteers who enjoy planning events,” she said. “The more volunteers we have, the more we can do. We will be holding a Maritime Days information meeting on April 15 at the River Place Pavilion, 7 p.m. We welcome new volunteers.”

This year’s Maritime Days festival will take place from Aug. 1 to 3.

“We have some exciting new shows and activities planned,” Graber said. “We’ll be offering professional wrestling, circus acts and so much more. We can’t wait.”
