Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, received Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Askar Zhengis, to discuss ways to enhance future cooperation between the two countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat congratulated Ambassador Askar Zhengis on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Arab Republic of Egypt. H.E. Minister Al-Mashat emphasized the importance of continuing to work on increasing cooperation and coordination to enhance integration between Egypt and Kazakhstan in light of the distinguished relations between the two countries.
Dr. Al-Mashat pointed out that the bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Egypt date back decades and include many fields, including trade, cultural exchange, cooperation in education, and many other ties that form a basis for strong interest from the Kazakh private sector in Egypt.
Minister Al-Mashat added that in recent years, Kazakh companies have increased their presence in Egypt, and the Kazakh side provides support for increasing trade, investments, and commercial exchange between the two countries through an export credit system.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed many common issues, including the proposed draft protocol for the 6th session of the Egyptian-Kazakh Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
The two sides also discussed the signing of several memoranda of understanding between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Kazakhstan in many fields, including culture, new and renewable energy, space activities, civil aviation, regulation of labor movement, and an agreement to avoid double taxation on income and prevent tax evasion and collection between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting also touched on the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of wheat and grains, and the export of wheat through the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The two sides discussed ways of cooperation in the construction sector, by encouraging Egyptian companies to enter the Kazakh market, and reviewing Egypt's extensive experience in implementing national projects such as the New Administrative Capital, New Alamein City, the Suez Canal expansion, and other road and tunnel projects.
