Plans approved for spectacular new hotel at Kent golf club with a spa, swimming lake, lodges and more

Plans have been approved for a 240-room hotel in Kent with spa facilities, lodges, a sports pavilion, swimming lake, driving range and much more. The London Golf Club scheme, at South Ash Manor in Ash in Sevenoaks, stretches across the districts of Sevenoaks and Tonbridge & Malling.
The hotel, which would be on five levels, and will also have a gym, restaurant and bar, along with the driving range, sports pavilion and 73 of the "retreat lodges" will be in Tonbridge and Malling. The plans also include a golf training centre, and refurbishment of the Grade II*-listed South Ash Manor to change it from offices to visitor accommodation.
Falling in the Sevenoaks area, there will be the rest of the lodges, a sports turf academy including an artificial pitch, the equestrian development including an arena and new stables. The sports pavilion will have a restaurant and bar, which spills onto a terrace, along with a gym, studios, a sporting shop and changing facilities.
Near this will be a "kids' club" with its own entrance. There will also be a natural swimming lake with a lake house and changing facilities, along with floodlit tennis courts and padel courts.
There will also be five woodland lodges, some of which are "treehouses" in an area bounded by ancient woodland. All the lodges will be spacious and accessed by buggies - it's said these will be ideal for groups of people, as they are spacious with varying numbers of bedrooms.
An underpass built under Ash Lane will connect the main golf club site with the eastern land. Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council's planning committee approved the plans on April 2.
The committee said its concerns about traffic and noise had been addressed by London Golf Club. They also said the scheme would create jobs in the area, both during construction and the subsequent operation.
The spa facilities will include an indoor and outdoor pool, treatment rooms, a cafe and lounge area, and a relaxation room. There will also be a shop and co-working space.
The existing golf driving range will be moved to the east of Ash Lane. There will be driving range bays, studios, a lounge area, putting studio, office, reception and changing facilities.
Alongside this will be a training centre, called Callaway Elite Performance Centre. It is set to be one of the world's premier facilities for tour player support and golf equipment fitting, and will use state-of-the-art facilities.
The driving range will be floodlit. The plans also include a wedding venue, accommodation and facilities in a set of buildings, these include South Ash Manor, South Ash Barn and South Ash stables.
There will be a registry office. The Sports Turf Academy will have a range of sporting surfaces including a 3G multi-use sports pitch.
Buildings will house classrooms, event spaces, workshop spaces, toilets, a kitchen and storage. The golf course and clubhouse upgrade will help the club in its ambitions to bid to host a Ryder Cup tournament.
