Grey's Anatomy Cristina Yang return 'sealed' after co-star lets slip huge clue

Grey's Anatomy legend Sandra Oh has opened up about the possibility of Cristina Yang returning to the hit medical drama.

ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy, which is one of the longest-running scripted television series of all time, has seen a lot of doctors and nurses come and go.

However, few characters made quite as much of an impact as Sandra Oh’s Cristina Yang, who appeared in the show from 2005 to 2014.

It comes as no surprise, therefore, that Grey's Anatomy fans will be ecstatic to know that Oh is no longer ruling out a return for the character.

While not fully confirming a return to the iconic Shonda Rhimes series, Oh did tease that she “doesn’t know” whether she might come back after telling fans “a hard no” for many years.

The Killing Eve actress recently appeared on Grey’s Anatomy stars Camilla Luddington and Jessica Capshaw’s podcast Call It What It Is, where they discussed Oh’s recent hints that she might revive her character Dr Yang.

Oh said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly: “For the longest time, it has always been a hard no. And it's just...I don't know. I just don't know.

“When you finish something, it's a deep process...I just cannot tell you...I can't stress to you enough how consciously I tried to fully process leaving."

She added: "I don't feel the need to revisit, but I also profoundly understand the audience's love for this character, because I've seen it for the past 10 years. That's the part that makes me just go, hmmm."

During the podcast, Capshaw claimed she heard that Oh "maybe might come back."

"She's never said that before," the Grey's Anatomy star said, with Luddington agreeing: "No she has not."

She continued: "In the past, it's sort of been, 'I've moved on to new waters,' and she obviously loves the show so much, but it didn't seem like there would be a return of Cristina Yang happening anytime soon.

“And maybe it's still not happening anytime soon, but the fact that she would be open to it. Because we never really got to work together very much."

"There was another intern that was always on her service, not Jo Wilson," the actress explained in reference to her character.
