Emmerdale killer John Sugden's downfall 'sealed' as resident grows suspicious

John Sugden finally got his comeuppance on Thursday when it was revealed he was behind the death of village fave Nate Robinson, but now what's next for John has been confirmed

Notorious Emmerdale killer John Sugden is set to get his comeuppance after being exposed.

Viewers watched in shock after flashbacks revealed John Sugden's evil misdeeds on the ITV soap on Thursday (April 10) - despite fans believing the plot had been accidentally spoiled. In the flashbacks, Nate appeared to 'come back from the dead' to reveal that it was actually John who killed him despite trying to save him in dramatic scenes last year.

But now it seems John's evil web of lies could about be undone by a surprising person. It came after viewers were left stunned as they watched John accidentally bring Nate's life to an end after stabbing a syringe full of medicine into Nate's neck.

John's saviour complex reared its head once again during Thursday night's (April 10) dramatic episode, when he deliberately sent Jacob into an anaphylactic shock. After purposefully swapping his and Jacob's coffees, Jacob began to have an allergic reaction - caused by his severe nut allergy.

When seen by Victoria, John was called over to help, to which he saved the day, despite Victoria having no idea John had triggered the reaction. Having told Vic to call village doctor Liam and an ambulance, John's plan seemed to be working well.

John's twisted game could now be up, as Liam appeared to be onto him. Victoria revealed that John had an allergy pen on him when he came to help Jacob, prompting a bemused look from Liam, who seemed suspicious.

Liam was also unnerved when Jacob appeared to blame himself for mixing up the coffees. However, as the episode went on, tensions calmed between Liam and John, with Liam praising him for helping to save Jacob's life.

Actor Oliver Farnworth - who plays John on the soap - explained his love for the way the show is filmed to the Mirror. "I think for me, the exciting thing is that the viewers find out first before anyone else in the village," he beamed.

"So it's kind of like letting them into these big secrets that John's been harbouring," Oliver continued. "It's caused him a lot of stress and anguish having to hide things.

"I think the fact that the viewers find out first, is going to be really exciting although I'll see what the backlash is I guess! It was bound to happen at some point, so I'm glad it's come out now."

This is not the end for John's storyline, however, as Oliver pointed out. The actor went on to tease more problems for his character in upcoming scenes, which could see the undoing of the Sugden lad's network of lies.

"There's lots of big stuff coming up," Oliver said. "I guess with the sort of web that John's woven for himself in the back of his mind, he’s anticipating people to start being suspicious, secrets to come out and people to start finding things out."

Oliver added that John has everything he ever wanted now - such as his darling beau Aaron, played by Danny Miller, as well as his long lost family. With John not wanting to lose what he fought so hard to gain, will John's murderous ways be found?
