ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) –– The rescheduled 2024 WNC Parade of Homes, featuring more than 50 homes around the region for viewing in person or virtually, is set for the weekends of April 26 to 27 and May 3 to 4.

The 44th annual event, sponsored by Grey Gold Concrete, is produced and hosted by the Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Parade is a rescheduled event, since the fall 2024 Parade was not held due to Hurricane Helene. The 2025 Parade will be held this fall.

The Parade’s Showcase Homes are located throughout Western North Carolina, in such areas as Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain, Marshall, Fairview and Clyde. The Parade also includes Renewed Spaces, Community Highlights and homes that are coming soon.

The homes offer a wide range of styles and price points, as the event is designed to appeal to all types of buyers. And the event showcases a number of popular trends in home design and construction, such as:

  • Seamlessly combining indoor and outdoor spaces: The Perch, a 2,784-square-foot Asheville home constructed by Red Tree Builders, uses expansive windows, decks and a walk-in design to bring the outdoors in.
  • Using design to make the building process more efficient: The Custom Barndominium, a 3,700-square-foot home in Clyde, has no load-bearing interior walls. The home, built by KC Construction, draws inspiration from barn design, but it’s built for people, not horses.
  • Bringing a high level of quality to townhomes: The 1,750-square-foot Laurelwood Village Townhome in Arden, built by Asheville Craftsmen Homes, combines luxury finishes with the convenience of having a pool and clubhouse in the neighborhood.
  • Top-grade finishes in tiny residences: The Escape Pod, a 480-square-foot cottage in Asheville built by Compact Cottages, has high-end finishes and could be built as an accessory dwelling unit behind an existing home in areas that allow such development.
  • Living in a conservation-minded community: Casa Bonita, a 3,718-square-foot home by Living Stone Design + Build, has been featured in House Beautiful magazine. It’s in a conservation-focused community called Sprout, located between Asheville and Hendersonville.

“We are excited to have the rescheduled 2024 Parade of Homes this spring, giving Western North Carolina residents the chance to see a wide variety of homes,” said Jimmy Penland of Silver Dog Construction, chair of the Builders Association’s Parade of Homes committee. “No matter what you’re looking for, there’s something for you to check out, whether it’s in person or virtually.”

This year’s Featured Community is Sprout, while the Cover Builder is Living Stone Design + Build. The magazine’s Featured Builder is Solid Rock Builders.

Sprout, the Parade’s Featured Community, has five miles of trails for biking, walking and dog walking, 150 acres of conserved forest for the use of residents, elevated gardening beds and beehives kept by a beekeeper. The community has 73 homesites on 375 rolling acres.

Visitors are encouraged to pick up a free Parade of Homes magazine to plan their tour. Magazines will be located this month at member businesses around the region, as well as at each house that is part of the Parade. The WNC Parade of Homes website will have a map of magazine pickup locations when they become available.

The website and magazine will have detailed descriptions of the homes on display, including floor plans and builder information. They also include the categories of Renewed Spaces, Coming Soon and Community Highlights, along with a comprehensive Business Guide that lists more than 1,200 area building professionals.

The Renewed Spaces section showcases the amazing work of remodeling professionals who specialize in turning dated spaces into beautiful, functional homes that meet modern needs. One remodeled home is open for in-person viewing: a renovated farmhouse outside Black Mountain. There are also five renovated homes that can be viewed online, along with a section on new homes that are in development and coming soon.
