Born in 1999 in Fuengirola, Málaga, Davidovich, to Russian parents, feels "very Spanish." Although he had already demonstrated his talent since childhood in various tournaments where he competed with players his age, it was at the 2022 Monte Carlo Masters 1000 that his name became known throughout the national scene.

"In the third set, I just tried to play good tennis. When I was down a break, I tried to keep playing aggressively, staying strong mentally and physically," Alcaraz said after taking a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory in 2 hours and 23 minutes.
The Murcia native will face Alejandro Davidovich in the semifinals, having previously defeated Australian Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 6-2.
It was a completely different Davidovich than the one who had ended the match against Jack Draper in tears the day before, more in line with the consistency he's showing this season, the best of his career in that regard.
"I've improved as a person, I've matured," Davidovich Fokina said. "When you control things off the court, it's going to be easier to control your emotions on the court. Today was proof of the progress I'm making this year."
Alcaraz and Davidovich, friends on and off the court:
"Yes, he invited me to his wedding. He's a friend of mine; we've known each other for a long time. He used to play with my older brother when they were younger. I know him very well; we've trained a lot together and have played each other a couple of times. It's never easy playing against a friend, but this is tennis. When you step onto the court, there are no more friends (smiles). There's no time to waste, no time to get tired. I know he loves playing here; it's his second time in the semi-finals, and he feels very comfortable; he's been playing at a high level lately. It's going to be a very interesting match."
Alcaraz and his feelings after winning in the quarterfinals:
"It was very, very tough. I'm not going to say I was one point away from losing, but that was practically the case in the second set. His level is quite high. The power with which he hits the ball is incredible; he's one of the most physical players on tour, that's for sure. I don't think I played my best tennis today, but I did play well. Today, the important thing was the level of tennis. At times, he made mistakes on the first or second shot of the rally, so I tried to make the most of those free points. I stayed there the whole time, and I think I did great. It was one of the toughest matches I've played this season."
