PULLMAN, Wash. — Former Washington State guard LeJuan Watts announced he is transferring to Texas Tech, he announced on his social media Saturday. Watts entered the transfer portal last week and quickly found his new home in Lubbock.
Watts spent just one season with the Cougars after transferring from Eastern Washington, where he was the Big Sky Freshman of the year for the Eagles.
Watts, a 6-foot-6 forward from Fresno, California, started all 34 games this season and was the Cougars’ second-leading scorer, averaging 13.7 points, a team-leading 6.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He played an average of 31.6 minutes per game and was WSU’s most efficient shooter among the starting five, hitting 54.9% from the field and 42.2% from 3-point range. A major issue for Watts this season was turnovers, as he led the team with 3.3 per game.
Watts joins Tyeree Bryan from Santa Clara as players transferring in to play for the Red Raiders, as well as retaining many of the players from this years team that made a deep NCAA Tournament run to the Elite 8.
Washington State has now had five players enter the transfer portal, as well as losing seniors Dane Erikstrup and Ethan Price to graduation. They will look to retool from high school prospects or players in the transfer portal that can come in and make an impact next season.
