Volkswagen Tiguan R Line Launched At Rs 49 Lakh

Volkswagen has launched the Tiguan R Line in the Indian market after much anticipation with a starting price of Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the latest generation of the Tiguan and will be available only in one top of the line variant. The Tiguan is so expensive due to it being a CBU (completely built unit).

We have talked about the Indian spec Tiguan quite extensively in the days leading up to its launch. It is loaded with features and for the first time it is available with the R-Line trim in India. The R-Line trim adds sportier bits like a front bumper, rear bumpers, R-Line badging, sports seats on the inside and 19-inch wheels.

In terms of the features, the Tiguan is loaded. It comes with a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, digital driver’s display, ADAS Level 2, Park Assist, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8-speaker audio system, three zone climate control, 30-colour ambient lighting, and wireless charging.

The Tiguan R-Line is equipped with a 2.0L TSI EA888 motor which produces 204 bhp and 320 Nm of torque and is paired to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. It also gets 4Motion AWD system with various off-road modes. Performance is plenty and it can do 0-100 kmph in 7.1 seconds and also achieve a top speed of up to 229 kmph.

At Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom), it is quite expensive and barges into the territory of some luxury brands as well but those are not offered with the kind of level of equipment that the Tiguan has. Competitors include the BMW X1, Mercedes Benz GLA and the Audi Q3.
