This story has been updated to include preliminary findings from the investigation.

A motorcycle driver is dead after a crash with a minivan Sunday.

Both a motorcycle and mini-van driver were traveling north on Kalamazoo Avenue when a crash occurred, killing the 26-year-old male Allendale motorcyclist and minorly injuring the 41-year-old female Caledonia minivan driver, Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) officials said.

The KCSO Traffic Safety Unit is still investigating the incident, however, initial findings show the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash and determined he tried to pass the minivan as she was making a left turn. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

KCSO extends their condolences to the family and friends impacted by the incident.
