SAN ANTONIO - Much of a home has been torched after a refrigerator caught the rear of a home on fire.

Around 1:10 p.m., first responders arrived at the scene of a major house fire near the corner of Belmont and North Polaris Street on the east side.

When crews arrived, they found the back of the home had been engulfed in flames, and quickly worked to knock down the flames.

Investigators believe that the fire was started by a refrigerator behind the home, which caught nearly a quarter of the home on fire.

Crews on scene said the home was empty at the time, as the owner was at work. No firefighters were injured during the response.

The damage is reportedly repairable, with only about 25% of the home burned.
