Easter eggs are one of the most typical sweets of Holy Week. That is why Louis Vuitton has decided to create a handbag in the shape of an egg and covered in chocolate, becoming one of the rarest designs to date by the luxury brand.
It was created together with Maxime Frederic, a prestigious French pastry chef and chocolatier, thus creating the 'Chocolate Egg Bag', a piece created by the designer Nicolas Ghesquière, the artistic director of the firm's women's collections since 2019.
The bag is made with dark chocolate, milk chocolate and roasted hazelnuts, as well as some nuts that can be found inside. It has a total weight of 970 grams and a price of 225 euros. However, it is only available in a few establishments in the world such as Paris, Shanghai, Singapore and New York.
Who is Maxime Frederic?
Born in Normandy, he comes from a family of farmers, and it was his parents who taught him how to bake desserts. He worked in many bakeries and patisseries, and was even chosen as Pastry Chef of the Year in the Gault & Millau Guide 2022.
He currently works at Cheval Blanc Paris, a luxury hotel that also has several restaurants such as Le Tout-Paris, Langosteria, Plenitude and Hakuba: "His hallmark is a virtuosity that transforms pastry and bakery into authentic emotional experiences," reads its website.
"Behind a dessert there should always be a story," he explained of his creations. "I always tell my teams that they have to keep one foot on the road to feel comfortable and the other foot on the edge of the precipice. The foot on the road means you will never fall. The other foot is going to shake you up a little bit, make you question yourself and take you out of your comfort zone," he said.
