Earl Carter obit photoEarl Gene Carter, 93, of McFall, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at a hospital in Albany, Missouri.

He was born on March 17, 1932, in McFall, the son of Frank Pierce and Lois Pauline (Mooney) Carter.

On July 5, 1957, he married Jo Ann Sperry in Kansas City. She survives at the home.

Earl graduated from McFall High School and served in the United States Navy for four years. After returning from military service, he farmed for several years and later became a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.

He valued time spent with family and friends. Earl enjoyed the saddle club, flying his plane, driving fast, traveling, and umpiring baseball games. He also enjoyed hunting, guns, and his bird dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lonnie and Jimmy Carter.

In addition to his wife, Jo Ann, survivors include his sister, Juanita (Carter) Wilcox; brothers, Larry Carter and Sam (Janet) Carter; children, Randy (Kathy) Carter, Rick (Jennifer) Carter, and Karen (Randy) Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with military rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at Roberson Funeral Home in Pattonsburg, Missouri. Cremation will follow the services, and inurnment will be held at a later date in McFall Cemetery in McFall.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
