Tom Brady reveals how FOX NFL Sunday can make his 'dream come true' in NFL first
The NFL is set to host its first-ever regular season game in Dublin, Ireland in 2025, and Tom Brady hopes to be a part of history when football travels to the Emerald Isle
Tom Brady has said it would be a "dream come true" if he is able to cover Ireland's historic NFL game later this year.
In February, the league announced that the country would host its first-ever regular season fixture at Croke Park, with the Pittsburgh Steelers slated to be the home team. And with Brady coming from Irish descent, he explained that it would be incredible if FOX claimed the rights for coverage and he could travel across the pond on broadcasting duties.
Speaking to host Patrick Kielty on The Late Late Show, he said: "You're going to see the greatest athletes in America battling it out. Hopefully, that game will be on FOX, and I can come over and broadcast it.
"That would be a dream come true." Meanwhile, speaking about previous trips to Ireland during the show, Brady added: "I'm 50 percent [Irish] but trending.
"The more visits I take here, the more Irish I'm becoming. This has been an awesome trip. I was here 22 years ago with my dad for a father-son golf trip, and I haven't been back since.
"Coming back and bringing all the good weather from the States, I'm going to bring more of that when I come." Announcing the fixture earlier this year, Dan Rooney Jr - who is the Steelers' director of business development and strategy - said: "The Steelers are excited and honored to play in the NFL's first ever regular season game in Ireland.
"The Rooney family has deep ties to the island, having immigrated from there in the 1800s, eventually settling in Pittsburgh, PA, where my great grandfather would go on to found our franchise in 1933. We're excited to represent our hometown of Pittsburgh internationally and play in front of a growing number of Steelers fans abroad.
"Today's announcement builds off our deep connections to the island and charts a path forward to what we feel is a very exciting future for the Steelers in Ireland." The fixtures and dates for each international game are set to be announced on Tuesday, with Madrid and Berlin also getting their own respective clashes for the 2025 season.
Meanwhile, Melbourne will host Australia's first game in 2026. After enjoying an incredible career as a quarterback with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, achieving seven Super Bowls and MVP awards in five of them, Brady teamed up with FOX on a full-time basis last year to become a lead color commentator.
He made his debut during the 2024 UFL Championship Game's second quarter before kicking off his NFL on FOX tenure. And Brady was also a part of the broadcaster's team for Super Bowl LIX earlier this year, as the Philadelphia Eagles reigned supreme with a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 47-year-old faced early criticism but eased into his role as the season progressed, although he faced further problems. After securing a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, Brady saw a number of restrictions cast upon him.
He's no longer able to attend broadcast production meetings, is barred from team facilities as well as coach and player access, and he was prevented from publicly criticizing game officials and other teams. The Raiders aren't the only side that Brady has a stake in either, with the California-born player-turned-commentator also holding a minority share in Birmingham City Football Club in the UK.
It's already been a good year for Brady across the pond, with his soccer side winning the title in the third tier of English football and gaining promotion to the Championship for 2025/26 - and a cameo at Croke Park could only add to the excitement for the star in the UK.
