A long-standing tennis club in Frinton is set to host an open day this weekend.

Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club will open its doors to the public on Saturday, May 17, from 11am to 4pm.

The club, which was founded more than 125 years ago, is inviting people to come along and see what it has to offer.

Visitors will be able to try out the club's facilities, which include the only grass tennis courts in Essex, as well as hard and covered courts.

There will also be the chance to try out pickleball, a fast-growing racquet sport, and see the croquet lawn, squash courts, and gym.

The club also offers exercise classes, walking football, and coaching for children.

For those who prefer a more relaxed day out, the club's heated outdoor swimming pool will be open.

The pool is included in the junior membership, which costs £96 for the year for those aged 18 and under.

On the open day, there will be exclusive membership offers, including discounted sign-ups and referral incentives.

James Max, the club chairman and broadcaster, said: "Our club has seen significant changes since I became chair.

"Along with the hardworking board and our amazing staff, we're providing a welcoming environment for all.

"Whether it's for sport or social activities, we really have some of the best sporting facilities in the area."

The club is not just about sport, however.

It also offers a social hub, with a bar and a seasonal menu from the Poolside Kitchen.

Members receive a 20 per cent discount at the bar.

Mr Max added: "For those looking for a social hub, our drinks are competitively priced and it’s a lovely place to meet, eat and catch up with friends too.

"And it’s all on your doorstep."

The club is hoping for good weather on the day, but whatever the conditions, it promises a day of fun and fitness.

It is encouraging people to bring their families along to see what the club has to offer.
