Say goodbye to the Chevrolet Blazer EV RS.

Car And Driver spotted a fleet order form for the 2026 Blazer EV that shows there will be no more rear-drive Blazer EV RS. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions remain available.

If you wanted a rear-drive Blazer EV, the RS was the only way to do it. This setup was offered for only model year. The rear-drive RS made 365 horsepower.

A brand spokesperson told C/D: "In an effort to simplify the product lineup while still offering the most popular options for consumers, RWD will not be available beginning with the 2026 model year. The Chevrolet Blazer EV is now available in FWD, AWD, and performance AWD in the new SS trim."

There are some other chances for the 2026 Blazer EV, all of which are related to styling. Customers can delete the two-tone roof, there's a new available shade of white paint that replaces last year's, and a new Tech Bronze package gives buyers 22-inch bronze wheels and special badging.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

This thing is ugly inside and out. If GM installed a crappy 4 cylinder ICE in these things, the rental car companies would have loved them

  • VoGhost Buy them (duh).
  • VoGhost I've said for years that EVs are superior in every meaningful criteria, but the exhaust breathers are too busy supporting their pedogod to understand.
  • Dwford Why do you need Type R parts on a 184hp CVT automatic hybrid with fake shifting sounds? Honda does realize that when tuners get ahold of this they are ripping that hybrid system entirely out of the car, right? Hmm, maybe THAT'S the point of the Type R parts. To give the tuners a head start.
  • Johnster It does seem a bit down-market and more like a Civic coupe than the original press releases had led me to believe. Although the first generation Prelude was heavily based on the Civic, the second and later generation Preludes came across as being more like Accord 2 + 2 coupes. That said, it still seems like a decent vehicle and there really isn't much competition in that market sector. Only the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GR86.
  • Kcflyer I'd take a robotaxi over the herky jerky London cabby that just dropped me off. 🤢
