Several dozen consumers turned out on May 11 in Anchorage to pick up direct from harvester orders of Prince William Sound spot prawns, Homer halibut, Kodiak rockfish and Norton Sound king crab from Alaska Marine Conservation Council’s Catch 49 program. The vacuum sealed, ready for the freezer packets of frozen seafood, shown here by publicist Cassandra Squibb, with Jason Dinneen, executive director of AMCC, have become a hit with buyers eager to support fishermen directly along with AMCC’s efforts to sustain healthy marine ecosystems and coastal community economies.
