A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man at his home after the pair are believed to have been involved in a car crash in Nottinghamshire.

Stephen Walsh’s body was found at his home in Mapperley on Monday morning.

The 37-year-old had suffered serious head injuries in an assault on Sunday night, police said.

They said the father-of-two was assaulted shortly after leaving the scene of the collision on nearby Newstead Avenue.

It is believed he did not stop at the scene and instead drove home, where a man later turned up and assaulted him.

The man, who police believe to be the driver of the other car, left the house, reportedly saying he would return the next day to exchange insurance details, according to the police.

No weapons were found at the scene.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone who saw anything suspicious near Mr Walsh’s home on Blemheim Avenue.

A silver Vauxhall Astra has been seized for forensic examination as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 100 of 30 July 2018.
