Traffic Advisory for July 18 - 23, 2024

Events happening in the City of Boston will bring some parking restrictions and street closures.

People attending these events are encouraged to walk, bike, or take public transit. Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, may be found on the website and information on the MBTA may be found online. The MBTA advises riders to purchase a round-trip rather than a one-way ticket for a faster return trip. Walking is also a great way to move around.

BACK BAY

Open Streets Newbury, Sunday, July 14, 2024

Open Newbury affords residents, visitors, and business owners to experience this vibrant street in a whole new way through a fun-filled day of walking, biking, skating, rolling, and family-friendly activities on a car-free street, which will require some temporary parking regulations on:

• Newbury Street from Berkeley Street to Massachusetts Avenue

The intersections of Fairfield Street, Gloucester Street, and Hereford Street will be car-free. The remaining intersections will be open to vehicular traffic for public safety access and general vehicular traffic flow. Parking will be prohibited from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. Any vehicles remaining after 6 a.m. will be towed.

DORCHESTER

Boston Little Saigon Night Market - Saturday, July 13, 2024

Dorchester Avenue will be the venue for the Boston Little Saigon Night Market. Night markets are outdoor street festivals that include food vendors, artisan/merchandise vendors, games, entertainment, and photo opportunities. They can be found all over Vietnam and are one of the most loved experiences by locals and tourists. During the event, the Boston Little Saigon Cultural District will not only highlight the community, but also bring a cultural experience to nostalgic residents who grew up in Vietnam and locals who are yearning for new experiences. This event will require a temporary parking restriction in place on Saturday from 12PM to 10PM on the following street:

• Dorchester Avenue, Both sides, from Adams Street to Gibson Street

Fenway Concerts 2024 –Fenway Park 

Public safety officials have requested parking restrictions to be in place to support the Fenway concert dates for July 18-23.

Parking restrictions will be in place on Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 23 on the following streets:

• Boylston Street, South side, from opposite Ipswich Street, near Fenway Park, to Brookline Avenue
• Boylston Street, North side, from Jersey Street to Kilmarnock Street
• Brookline Avenue, Both sides, from Overland Street to Lansdowne Street
• Ipswich Street, North side (Fenway Park side), from Lansdowne Street to Boylston Street
• Jersey Street, Both sides, from Van Ness Street to Brookline Avenue 
• Jersey Street, Both sides, from Boylston Street to Van Ness Street
• Lansdowne Street, Both sides, from Brookline Avenue to Ipswich Street
• Overland Street, South side (even side), from Brookline Avenue to Beacon Street
• Overland Street, North side (odd side), from Brookline Avenue to Beacon Street 
• Richard B. Ross Way, Both sides, from Van Ness Street to Boylston Street 
• Van Ness Street, Both sides, from Ipswich Street to Kilmarnock Street

Community Pop-Up Events, Municipal Lot #14, Mattapan – July 13 & 20, 2024

The Mayor’s Office of Equity and Inclusion is hosting a series of events will be taking

place in Municipal Lot #14 at 23 Fairway Street in Mattapan which is at the intersection

of Cummins Highway and Fairway Street. Parking restrictions will be in place in the following area:

Procession Of Madonna Delle Grazie– Sunday, July 14, 2024

The traditional procession will take place over the following  streets: Beginning on Hanover Street at the corner of Prince Street from Saint Leonard Church Peace Garden across Hanover Street to Prince Street toward North Square to North Street past Paul Revere House, left on Richmond Street, left on Commercial Street, left on Lewis Street, right on North Street, left to Fleet Street and across Hanover Street to North Bennett Street, right onto Salem Street, left on Sheafe Street, right on Snowhill Street, right onto Hull Street, left on Salem Street, right on Charter Street, right on Hanover Street, right onto Cross Street, right on Salem Street, left on Cooper Street, left on North Margin Street, right on Stillman Street, right onto Endicott Street, right on Keaney Square, right on Prince Street to Saint Leonard’s Church at corner of Hanover Street. Please expect rolling street closures.

MESSAGE FROM MassDOT: SUMNER TUNNEL UPDATE

The Sumner Tunnel Restoration Project is a $160 million investment in the Commonwealth’s infrastructure. To achieve this work,

• The Sumner Tunnel will be closed from Friday, July 5, through Monday, August 5, 2024.   

The Sumner Tunnel Restoration Project will offer a variety of mitigation options for individuals coming from all travel points.   

• These mitigation options include free trips on the MBTA Blue Line; free and reduced-cost water ferry options; reduced Commuter Rail fares for riders; reduced parking costs at MBTA and Commuter Rail parking lots and garages; discounted tolls for residents; and additional options for travelers to and from Logan Airport.
