The NAACP Pasadena Branch will hold its Juneteenth Celebration and 4th Annual Roller Jam on Saturday, June 14, at Pasadena City Hall from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The free community event, organized in partnership with the City of Pasadena and the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, will feature roller skating, vendors, food trucks, resource tables from the City of Pasadena, and music from DJ Lady P.
Attendees can bring their own skates or rent them at a flat rate of $10 for one to four hours.
The event will include a designated play area and art space for children, supervised by the Armory Center for the Arts. Bounce houses will also be available for younger attendees.
The celebration aims to highlight local businesses while providing family-friendly entertainment. Several skating groups are expected to participate, including Skyhigh Rollers 420, Inglewood Roller Skaters, Lovergirl Skate Club, and Black Girls Skate International.
The skating area will be set up in the City Hall rotunda, providing space for skaters of all ages.
Juneteenth, which became a federal holiday in 2021, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrates African American culture.
